Tips for Finding the Best Child-Friendly Accommodation for Your Family Vacation

Going on a family vacation is a great way to spend quality time with your loved ones and create memories that you will cherish for a lifetime. However, when travelling with kids, finding the right child-friendly accommodation can make all the difference in your overall vacation experience.

Over the years of travelling with our children, we have gradually worked out our non-negotiables on accommodation. Things we look for when finding a place to stay. But also things we won’t book because we know we will be setting ourselves up for disaster. For example, we opt for places with multiple rooms. The more space the better! We don’t currently book ‘double’ rooms with 2 beds as our kids are still young and will constantly wake each other up.

Here are some tips to help you find the best child-friendly accommodations for your family vacation.

1. Look for family-friendly amenities

When searching for accommodation, look for features that are geared towards families, such as swimming pools, playgrounds, and game rooms. Some hotels even offer kid-friendly activities, such as movie nights, arts and crafts, and scavenger hunts. These amenities will keep your kids entertained and give you some much-needed relaxation time.

2. Check the room layout It is important to make sure that the room layout is suitable for your family’s needs.

Connecting rooms or a suite with a separate living area can give your family more space and privacy. Also, make sure the room has a mini-fridge and microwave, which can come in handy when travelling with young children who need snacks and drinks throughout the day.

3. Read reviews

Reading reviews from other families who have stayed at the accommodation can give you valuable insights into what to expect. Check for comments about noise levels, cleanliness, and the quality of the kid-friendly amenities. You can also check for any complaints about bedbugs.

4. Consider renting a vacation home

Renting a vacation home is a great option for families who want the benefits of a home but the convenience of a hotel. Vacation homes often come with fully-equipped kitchens, multiple bedrooms, and private outdoor spaces, providing more space and flexibility than hotel rooms.

5. Research the location

Make sure to research the location of the accommodations to ensure it is close to kid-friendly activities and attractions. The last thing you want is to be too far away from the action and spend more time commuting than enjoying your vacation.
