Family-friendly things to do in Da Nang –
1 – Hai Van Pass
Made famous by being dubbed ‘the best coastal road in the world’ by the UK show Top Gear. Hai Van Pass is now visited by thousands of tourists every year. The best mode of transport to experience the thrill of the hairpin turns is to rent a motorbike or join a motorbike tour. However, if you are travelling with younger children or babies, you may feel more comfortable in something sturdier. You can also hire a driver and car or join on a coach tour. Stop off at the viewpoints for some insane landscapes and a Vietnamese coffee!
2 – Ba Na Hills
Ba Na Hills is a newer edition to Vietnam. Best described as a mix between Disneyworld and a French ski village. Beginning the day by taking the 7 Guinness World record-holding cable car up to the mountains. Inside you will find something for every member of the family. Whether you want to explore the wax museum, ride the alpine coaster or head to the 3 levels of games and rides at fantasy park. The easiest way to reach Ba Na Hills is to hop in a taxi or ‘Grab’ to the cable car which takes around 45 minutes. Entrance costs –

- Children (1-1.4 m): 600,000 VND
- Baby (<1 m): free
Hotels are available inside Ba Na Hills like the Mercure in the French Village boasting entertainment, shopping and a year-round swimming pool.
3 – Dragon Bridge
It is unmissable as it stands at 666 metres and very proud in the centre of Da Nang. As the name suggests the bridge is built to look like a dragon, in Vietnam, this represents good luck. You can marvel at its golden beauty in the day. However, every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm head down to the waterfront to watch the light show where the dragon even spits out fire and water from its mouth.
4 – Marble Mountains
A cluster of 5 marble and limestone mountains each named after the five elements – fire, wood, metal, water and earth. Children will enjoy exploring the caves, grottos and pagodas along with the view from the top, and don’t panic because you can take a lift up and down if you have small ones in tow. I would recommend taking the lift up and walking down for less intense activity but allowing you to take it all in.
5 – Golden Bridge
Tailor-made for today’s growing social media platforms. The 500-foot long arced bridge accessible only to pedestrians floats above a mountain range and is held up by two giant stone hands. The bridge is located at the entrance to Ba Na Hills so pair the two together and don’t forget to bring your camera to capture those Insta worthy shots.
